The Local Offer (SEND)
What is it?
Local authorities must publish something called a ‘Local Offer’. The Local Offer sets out information in one place about provision that is available and expected across education, health and social care for children and young people (CYP) in the local area who have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). It applies to CYP 0-25 years of age.
What should the Local Offer Do?
- It should provide clear, one-stop-shop, accessible and up-to-date information about the available provision and how to access it in your area
- It should improve SEND information transparency and choice for CYP 0-25 years of age
- It should make provision responsive to local needs by directly CYP with SEND, their parents, and the professionals who work with them in its development and review
